I modeled these magazine spreads after Chatelaine, creating holiday issue content for women between 25 and 50 years, living in a middle-income household and holding a passion for decorating and interest in the season’s hottest gifts. I have utilized white space, sparingly, to allow for order and spacing between images, lessening tension. The gift guides hold little hierarchy between elements as none is needed in this gallery-like catalogue of images. Hierarchy, however, is used in the feature article spread and whimsical elements (such as the miniature snowglobe images) are added to lessen any rigidity and bring flair to this seasonal issue.
